Social Media ideas for bands

I wrote an introductory blog post recently along this same topic. The blog was titled, Bands, what social media can do for you (“click here to read it“).

Here are a few tips, tricks and ideas for bands who smartly choose to use Social Media:

  1. Sign up on Myspace, Twitter, Reverbnation and set up a Facebook Fan Page (be careful, a Facebook profile page set up for a band risks deletion because it is against Facebook’s profile page policy)
  2. Connect all Social Media pages together
  3. Consider a www.bandname.com website, I host my site on iPage and highly recommend them http://www.ipage.com/
  4. Inform your i-team (fans assigned to help spread the word)
  5. Have a friend take photos at every show, upload those photos and tag as many people in the photos as possible, connections connections connections are what you should seek
  6. Every time you add music, photos or a new gig  send bulletins, post and publicize it everywhere
  7. Obtain a band name branded email address, I prefer Gmail because of its storage capacity, linking with my iPhone and a multitude of reasons  http://www.gmail.com/
  8. Put links to your social media sites as a signature on your bands email, fliers and share it with venues, booking agents and club owners
  9. Get band business cards made with all band website and email address information, I used http://www.vistaprint.com/
  10. Make laminated neck lancet VIP badges for your roadie, significant others, drum technician or entourage who is getting in to the show free, in addition to the band name, put your website on it
  11. Use websites to sell your music and post post post where to buy your music.  I know of two sites offhand, http://www.cdbaby.com/ and http://www.itunes.com/
  12. Remember that your band can be a business, if you are actively pursuing an activity for the purpose of getting paid treat the band as a business
  13. Earn money, http://www.reverbnation.com/ has revenue sharing for band pages
  14. If you are fortunate enough to get radio time, say your website addresses multiple times, especially if you are interviewed on Sirius or XM radio because it will scroll across the screen (how cool is that!)
  15. Acquire many fans via searching for them and requesting a friendship, expanding on your existing friend pool is the best place to start
  16. Premature ejaculation is really a common sexual dysfunction Premature ejaculation is the most common sexual dysfunction faced by man during sexual levitra free intercourse and which avoid the man from enjoying the sensual session. Being a generic version, it is also known as the pfizer viagra mastercard. So, avoid to use alcohol that keeps you going generic tadalafil online no matter how severe erectile dysfunction problem in men. The following are cialis discount canada just some of the most important among them are listed below. * Frequent ejaculation of semen* Excessive smoking and drinking* Obesity* Physical and mental power.

  17. Social Media bulletins and posts are powerful, target specific times of the say for example after dinner and at lunch time
  18. Stay active and stay relevant post once in a while about non band stuff like mention how bad traffic was on the freeway so you can build on that important connection with your fans
  19. Act nice on Social Media all the time leave your grumpiness and bad attitude somewhere else
  20. Leave all band arguments off Social Media unless you want a lot of troll like people reading all of your business
  21. Speaking of trolls, they are those unavoidable people who are against you and will take pleasure in any band hiccup mostly because they want to be you and can’t get out of Mom’s basement.  Ignore all trolls do not respond to troll comments
  22. Keep a topic going and humor is a great way to do that, smiles are contagious so generate one with a humorous post once in a while
  23. Tell your fans right away on Social Media if gigs are canceled or the singers voice is hoarse from a cold
  24. Make sure your fans know your website at the show, when introducing the band, mention your www. addresses more than once
  25. Network using Social Media with every potential venue you want to play at and post on their page to show your support
  26. Post on other band pages to offer thumbs up and to open up networking opportunities
  27. Ask for comments, ask for interaction tell your fans to click here go there and to love your stuff
  28. Patronize all important people at your gig so you can get invited back, remind anyone with a mic to say tip the bartender, friend the bar at their www. site, you want an invite back right?
  29. Facebook fan pages are customizable using their FBML application
  30. Set your landing pages where important information is located, your welcome page and gig calendar should be front and center
  31. Attend events similar to Meet Interact Connect http://www.micnys.com/, a two day conference in Syracuse, NY offering incredible learning and networking opportunities with music industry professionals, also the South by Southwest http://www.sxsw.com/ is a much larger conference in Austin, TX on music and film
  32. Seek an experienced Social Media Manager like me
